We're Sydney and Karan, and we started Rhizan because we understand what it means to build something from the ground up—and to care about protecting what matters most.
Sydney grew up in a Minnesota farm family, where she spent her summers working alongside family in the fields. Those long days taught her the delicate balance between protecting crops and respecting the ecosystem. Pest management wasn't just a business necessity—it was about stewardship, understanding nature's rhythms, and finding solutions that worked with the environment, not against it. That appreciation for thoughtful, responsible pest control has stayed with her ever since.
Karan's story began in Southern California, where his immigrant family worked in property management. He watched his parents serve families day in and day out, always putting the customer first. He saw how a clean, healthy living environment could transform someone's quality of life—and how much trust property owners placed in the service providers who helped maintain those spaces. That focus on customer-centric service and genuine care became the foundation of how he approaches business.

FounderSydney's roots on a Minnesota farm instilled an appreciation for responsible pest management and building businesses that respect the ecosystem. After college, she spent 15 years working with service business operators—analyzing what makes route-based businesses succeed, helping owners understand their company's value, and structuring growth strategies. She saw hundreds of businesses change hands and watched which transitions preserved value and which destroyed it. She became convinced many buyers got it wrong—focusing on spreadsheets while losing sight of the people and values that made businesses valuable in the first place. She and Karan founded Rhizan to do things differently: treating business owners as partners, preserving teams and customer relationships, and building for the long term. Her experience gives her deep insight into what makes businesses valuable, but her farm upbringing reminds her that numbers never tell the whole story.

AdvisorKaran is a multi-time entrepreneur who's built service businesses from the ground up. He founded and scaled a home health business and a home veterinary service, learning firsthand the challenges of recruiting quality staff, maintaining service excellence, and building customer trust in competitive markets. Raised in Southern California by immigrant parents who worked in property management, he watched his family serve customers with dedication and integrity—lessons that shaped how he approaches business. He knows what it takes to make payroll, handle difficult customer situations, and build a team that cares about the work. As an advisor at Rhizan, he brings that operational experience to every acquisition, ensuring that businesses continue to thrive under new ownership while supporting the people who make them successful.
